If you are over 51 years of age or have increased your blood pressure, limit your sodium intake to a maximum of 1500 mg per day. If you want to increase the taste of your food then you can do so by many medicinal herbs and spices. Some spices and herbs can especially help reduce blood pressure.

Red chilli improves blood flow by expanding blood vessels. Turmeric reduces the overall body swelling, resulting in a decrease in hypertension by improving heart function. Garlic reduces cholesterol and blood pressure.

Limit alcohol intake:

Alcohol in small amounts can actually reduce blood pressure. However, drinking more amounts of alcohol increases the blood pressure.
